May 9, 2001 -- Econo Lodge Saint John celebrated their GRAND OPENING with the Mayor, Shirley MacAlary cutting the ribbon and several city and provincial officials in attendance. Choice Hotels representatives offered congratulations and well-wishers came from across New Brunswick as well as local businesses. Local storyteller and historian, Dave Goss told some of the history of the Manawagonish area. Refreshments and hotel tours were available to all guests. June 1, 2001 - ECONO LODGE now offers 100% NON SMOKING and ALLERGY FREE ROOMS. A FIRST for Choice Hotels Canada and the Saint John area hotels. B&Bs have been doing it successfully for years, so now it's the hotel industry's turn to take a stand for smoke free rooms. Smoking is allowed only outside the rooms in the outdoor sitting areas provided. Pets are also not able to come into the rooms as some guests have allergies to pet dander and we use scent free cleaning products for your good health. Jan.1, 2002 - ECONO LODGE IS NOW ECONO LODGE & SUITES! Our hotel is now offering extended stay suites which include a fridge and a microwave, coffee maker and table and chairs in each of the designated suite rooms. We are still improving to serve you better March 2, 2002 - NOW AVAILABLE - FREE HIGH SPEED INTERNET in designated rooms. If your lap top has an ethernet card, ask at the front desk or when you make your reservation for a room with direct connection to free high speed internet. This service is totally safe and is connected through a private server located in the hotel which is equipped with a virus scanner, so now you can get your work done faster and save some time for dinner and relaxation! First at ECONO LODGE & SUITES. Dec.30, 2002 - WE'VE GONE SEASONAL! ECONO LODGE & SUITES is now CLOSED from Dec.1- March 31. Each year we will be closing down at the end of November and opening up at the first of April. Please be sure to check the dates before calling for reservations. We will be renovating and changing to serve you better each year. See you in the Spring! |
